A Mount Pleasant Cathedral Gem: Cornerstone on Quebec
Some of the most interesting properties I’ve seen in Vancouver are conversions of older buildings, like this Cornerstone building on Quebec. The church was built over 100 years ago, and converted into a beautiful loft 2-level loft in 1994. Boasting 20 foot ceilings and a 17-foot cathedral floor-to-ceiling windows, it’s easy to see why this building is included in the Vancouver heritage tour, and why it’s made my list! At just over 1500 square feet, this Mount Pleasant gem has been beautifully redecorated - the perfect balance between modern elegance and antique charm.
More than a Workshop on Pender
Where to start with this beautiful Workshop on Pender? I’ve had the pleasure of selling this loft three times, and seen it pass through the hands several fantastic owners - and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel a twinge of envy every time I handed over the keys! More than just a Workshop, this beautiful loft’s interior is a work of art - 1600 square feet of polished concrete and hand scraped stained oak luxury with a chic yet industrial vibe. Beyond the high ceilings,10-foot windows and 16-foot feature brick wall, this property holds a special place for me because both sets of previous owners are good friends of mine, and both now live in gorgeous houses on the North Shore, with two beautiful boys a piece. I’ve always loved the parallelism of their two stories - underpinned by this fantastic property that connects them.
The Magical Wall Street Area: Trinity Street
The Wall Street area is known to those living in east side Vancouver as host to some of the city’s greatest properties - and this contemporary custom redesign is truly a cut above. With its gorgeous walk-up and front deck, I found myself falling in love from the curb, and it only gets better on the inside - reclaimed brick feature walls and refinished hardwood, complete with spa-quality facilities and a wood-burning make it the epitome of modern, rustic charm. The rear deck is a true work of art, and beset by fruit-bearing trees and a variety of lush flora, it makes it all too easy to forget you’re in the heart of the city, which earns this property its spot in my top 5.
Penthouse on Alexander: Living on the Edge
This stunning waterfront penthouse on Alexander is a shining oasis perched on the precipice of Vancouver’s eastside harbour community. I was blown away by the 1,000 square foot private outdoor terrace, and its jaw-dropping 280 degree view of the North Shore Mountains and the Burrard Inlet's passing cruise ships. Featured on HGTV’s Lofty Ideas for its 11 foot ceilings and impeccable granite countertops, its sunken soaker tub and gas-burning fireplace present a dilemma for those deciding where to cozy up with a good book. As if that weren’t enough, the building’s amazing amenities include a gym, wood-working studio and pottery studio - the coup de grace for this luxurious Gastown loft.
A Canadian Cabin on Riverside
This stunning North Vancouver property is the brainchild of German architecture and Japanese design. Truly, the picturesque ideal of a modern ‘cabin in the woods’, this is two acres, five bedrooms and 4,400 square feet of idyllic splendour. After touring through the house’s high ceilings, past the kitchen’s immaculate granite countertops, the spacious living room’s roaring fireplace, and the separate bar, I found myself standing on the spacious patio, and quietly soaking in the natural beauty of the Seymour Heights area all around me - I realized I could not dream up a more picture-perfect image of rustic luxury, and that makes this Riverside property a shoe-in for my favourite five.
